By Joe Grata, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The 31st Street Bridge between Route 28 and the Strip District will be reopened to traffic after a 10 a.m. ribbon-cutting tomorrow.

Mayor Luke Ravenstahl will join Pennsylvania Department of Transportation officials for the ceremony marking completion of a $26.8 million repair that included a wider, new sidewalk on the downstream side and wider lanes.

The steel superstructure of the 79-year-old bridge over the Allegheny River has been painted a new shade of blue that PennDOT used for the first time in the city.
