Louisville, KY adopts a Complete Streets policy

Posted Dec 13, 2007 by scott under news

From the Complete Streets eNewsletter (if you’d like to subscribe to the complete streets newsletter, send an email to newsletter@completestreets.org with “subscribe” in the subject line):

“Last spring we wrote about Mayor Abramson's promotion of complete streets and the advancement of a policy and design manual in Louisville, KY. We are pleased to report that their complete streets policy is now official. On October 18th the Louisville Metro Planning Commission adopted the complete streets policy as an amendment to Cornerstone 2020, the region's comprehensive plan. The Louisville Metro Planning Commission states the associated design manual and policy “will pave the way towards making our roadways safer and more accessible for all users while at the same time increasing the overall efficiency of the surface transportation network by increasing its total multi-modal carrying capacity.”
