While not entirely bicycle related, there was an interesting speech given on DUQ two Sundays ago. The speaker <a href="http://www.wduq.org/news/Sundays_at_Six/index.html" rel="nofollow">discussed urban walkable communities vs. the suburbs</a> and really went into depth with why the suburbs are not going to work in the future and we'll need to start growing our existing urban infrastructure.
