It's not quite competely 100% road-worthy today, but should be real soon. We'll have to show it to yinz in person.

Joe, that's really sad, "I saw your new tandem on top of your car on the Turnpike" That's the worst.
I think Bilenky now does their painting in house (I'm not totally sure). They did the striping anyway.

out of curiosity, when you buy something like that, is it a standard build, or do you pick and choose every component?

Not standard at all. I picked a lot of components, but said, "you pick, you know best" in a lot of cases. There's a spreadsheet. We discussed rims and hubs but not spokes, I was agnostic on cranks and bottom brackets but particular about brakes. I'm not sure what the front derailleur is, I think I know every other part. I'm still picking up a few pieces. It'll be rolling this weekend though maybe not (almost certainly not) with its final versions.

Wow. I am totally jealous. My dream bike is one of those with the S&S couplers. Okay, one of my dream bikes.
I recently got a used tandem. Fun, but it's taking a long time to get everything set up the way *I* want it. From scratch would save a lot of trouble.

Were you guys at the Schenley Park movie Wednesday? I had my grey Surly, black fenders weird handlebars. I think I talked to you. I said really clever things like "Wow! Cool Bike! Wow! Wow!" and "I dunno what movie this is."

I wish I'd looked at your bike -- I'm interested in handlebars, what are they?

My handlebars? To quote Lady GaGA, "It's complicated and stupid."
I've always had trouble with my neck when riding dropped handlebars and it's gotten worse since I've gotten older, so it a long stem with "Classic" (I guess) upright handlebars.
In May-June, I did the DC trail (round trip!!). I wanted to have the option for different hand positions.
I had some weird purple bar-ends around, but my handlebars were already way wide, so I put the bar-ends upright/forward between the grips and the brake handles. Like Aeros, only aerodynamically unsound.
I got cork tape wrap at Free Ride, but they didn't have black, so now I have //bright!\\ blue horns pointing up from my grey/black bike.
From a fashion viewpoint, they are striking, aren't they?
On the trip, I barely used the horns/bar-ends, but they were really great when I did. It's amazing what just a couple of minutes in a different hand position can do.
I'm probably going to remove them - or at least get black tape, but I've been lazy.

Than tandem really is a great looking bike!
I'm curious, can you make adjustments so you can trade off stoker and steerer roles?

Hi, Mick - Yes, we were the confused people on the tandem. I had thought Iron Giant was showing. Turns out it was Iron Man. Oops. Nice night for a ride, though.
In response to your last question ... in our case, we can't trade places. We have a 9" height difference. In fact, that's the main reason for the custom frame. Medium frames are too small for Nate, and large frames are too big for me.
