Mayor moves multimodal transportation forward with MOVEPGH plan
This week, Mayor Ravenstahl announced that he is putting the City’s wheels in motion on a new $1.1 million transportation planning effort that includes Complete Streets, complete transportation systems, sustainability and “Livable Communities” amongst its top priorities. This bold agenda put forth by the Mayor tasks the City Planning Department to produce a Comprehensive Transportation Plan that will provide a vision and action plan for a more livable city that accommodates all users of our streets regardless of age or mode of transportation. Bike Pittsburgh is honored to have been named to the 10-person MOVEPGH Task Force for the plan along with representatives from the City, Port Authority, PennDOT, SPC, Allegheny County, and Allegheny Conference.
MOVEPGH is about moving people, not just cars. We need to make our roads, rivers, rails, trails and mass transit work in a way that better connects people with where they live, work and play,” Ravenstahl said.
