steep hills

I just read about Danny Chew's dirty dozen hill ride.I live in eastern section of the city,(Squirrel Hill)and 2 steep hills in my area are Commercial Road and Negley Ave.Do you know the grade level of these 2 hills?? Will Danny be doing another dirty dozen ride this year?

RE: steep hills

While I don't know the grade of those hills, I can tell you the Dirty Dozen happens but once a year, just after Thanksgiving. If you're looking to do a hill ride, there are plenty of riding partners to recruit from on here.

You can read another take on this past year's Dirty Dozen at Urban Velo... Shameless plug, I know.

RE: steep hills

Oscar Swan's book lists other steep, non-DD, hills. He has Negley listed at just a smidge under 16%, and Commercial/Forward doesn't make the list.

I'm very surprised commercial/Forward doesn't make the list.I thought it was just as steep as Negley. In fact, I had a more difficult time getting up commercial than Negley, but maybe because it's a longer hill. Thanks for that info Bjanaszek

Lenny, mark set up a nice website that lists some of the steep hills in the area. Please list the streets you find if there not there for reference. Here's the website: http://hill.ography.us/

RE: steep hills

this one is kinda fun, a little outside the city though..
I felt pretty good about riding all the way to the top.
